12.03.2018

With 4 pedicure chairs and 12 hair stations, they strive to create a business that offers excellent education, positive surroundings, and helping people feel and look great. Owners, Rick and Linda Biel are dedicated to providing their clients nurturing treatments to promote relaxation and healing while building relationships every day with laughter and beauty for everyone.

What was your inspiration to open Urbanna?
Our inspiration started by the opportunity to offer an extraordinary place of work for stylists, estheticians, nail techs and massage therapists.

What is your vision for Urbanna?
Our vision is to be eco economic, try to repurpose whenever possible and be mindful of our environment. Products play a big role in that decision. This is why we carry Davines. Davines believes that in living in a balance of beauty and sustainability.

What is your unique point of difference?
People love to be pampered during their services, and relax. Urbanna offers 6 premium choices of red and white wine by the glass. We offer spa parties for groups of 10 or less. The salon and spa is spread out so lots of fun for groups can be had. We have womens and mens boutique locker rooms, three lounges and 6 treatment rooms all built inside an old bakery from 1905.

How is Urbanna involved in the community?
Urbanna donates about 20 charity baskets to support various organizations recommended by clients, and we love how our clients support us. It's our way of giving back.

What are you the most proud of when it comes to your salon?
I am proud of our awesome staff. I can't speak highly enough, they're caring, talented and smart.

Is there anything exciting happening in your salon right now?
Urbanna just took the Silver Award for the "BEST OF" in Spokane City. It's a great feeling to be rewarded with recognition.

If you were going to give one piece of advice to a young dreamer who wants to own their own establishment in the beauty industry, what would it be?
Owning your own salon might be more work than you think! Saying that, I would recommend the dreamer make sure she or he have lots of extra time to accomplish the many "unexpected" peripheral jobs.
