Fast forward to 2018 and Hair M now has four locations in the metro Portland area and a reputation for offering a superior experience for men who appreciate the finer things in life. While many NW salons rent chairs, Hair M offers a career opportunity to a dedicated team of employees at all levels who enjoy peace of mind with full benefits, including retirement, PTO and medical, a regular schedule of advanced training, fun team parties and activities, career coaching and a great clientele. Hair M's founder, Celeste Trapp, also offers her employees who have thoughts about one day owning a salon, a free 2-year (total of 8 classes) program on salon ownership, teaching not only how to start a salon but also how to run a successful salon. This class is also offered to non-employees, however, not for free.

What makes your salon and spa different?
What has set Hair M apart from other salons and barbershops is still as evident today as it was in 2003. Hair M's services and aesthetics are designed for men. Men walk in and appreciate that it feels like it is a place for them: dark wood, black leather chairs, Widmer beer on tap and friendly faces. Services like massage, hair coloring, facials and waxing are primarily offered by salons and spas that cater to women. To have a place to enjoy these services while feeling comfortable is a big plus for many men. As well as seeing a large selection of lines designed for men available to take home. No matter how great a salon looks, if the service isn't skilled, competent and friendly, it isn't going to help build the business. This is why Hair M has invested heavily in developing leadership, systems and training programs to keep customers (and the Hair M teams) experience always a priority.

What keeps you motivated to carry out this mission?
With the fourth location opening in Lake Oswego this past January, Hair M is still committed to offering men their own experience. The popularity of barbering this past decade has allowed men to find a hip barbershop without looking too far, but there are no other men's salons quite like Hair M. Out-of-state clients work their business travel around their haircuts at Hair M. Clients comment often that their cities don't have anything reaching the caliber of Hair M. Expansion into other markets may soon be on the horizon to bring the Hair M experience to men outside of Oregon.

What are your favorite Salon Services products?
Hair M's clients love KEVIN.MURPHY NIGHT. RIDER and STIMULATE-ME. Hair M has also just started getting more men trying Brazilian Blowout smoothing treatments for cowlicks and textured hair relief.
