Nicci Troupe, owner of Salon Bellissima, is devoted to sustainability in her salon. From the choices they make with the products they partner with to the environmental focuses on sustainable energy and recycling efforts in the salon, they are devoted to helping to keep our planet green and their clients looking beautiful!

Why did you choose to move into a sustainable direction with your salon?

After working at an Aveda Salon in Bellingham for 6 years, the opportunity came up to purchase an existing salon in 2011. I was 6 months pregnant and thought, 'why not?' That’s when I was first introduced to Davines. I loved the products and their performance, but I also loved their story of sustainable resources and being family owned and operated. It was everything I believed in. I wanted my salon to have those same standards. We’ve been in the same space for all these years. We wanted to grow but just didn’t have enough space. Last year when the space below us opened up and we are now a 2000sf salon and boutique with 10 stylists.

What is your mission?

Our mission and philosophy are devoted to providing quality services, in a friendly environment. To help keep our planet green, by offering products that focus on being as sustainable and natural as possible. We chose to be partners with Davines Sustainable beauty products, Green Circle Salons, EPA Green Power Partners (we are 100% powered by the wind), and also offer Organic Brews from Aslan Organic Brewery, which is the first B Corp brewery in our area.

What keeps you motivated?

I love that all my stylists are like my family. We’re a Team. On Saturdays, we come in and do each other’s hair. We strive to have consistent work walk out our doors, by keeping up with new trends and continuous education. I offer advanced trainings and education to all my stylists. We do “How to Tutorials” that we post regularly on our facebook page. Our stylists educate their clients how to use the products they purchase as well as showing them how to style their own hair, so they always look great even between salon visits.



We’ve also won Northwest Best Salon 6 years in a row and are being featured in Alive Magazine. That’s something we’re all very proud of! We also keep involved with the community, by donating our time with local organizations such as the Lydia House, Hospice, and Haircuts for the Homeless. We plan events for our valued guests with Sip and Shops, and Christmas shopping night. Our most recent endeavor is planting trees to help preserve the nature and air quality in our area, the trees were purchased from a local nursery, from the money we raised in the salon during Davines’ sustainable beauty month.

What are your favorite Davines Products you can’t live without?

There are so many I’m a fan of, but I would have to say my absolute favorites would be VOLU/ hair mist, YHA blowdry primer, and OI oil. 

What would you want people to remember your salon for?

Sustainability, giving back to the environment and community, fashionable, trendy hair and boutique, hair painting, and wedding parties. 

Where do you see yourself and Salon in 10 years? To keep growing…Salon B2!
