Our Owner & President, Sydney Berry was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1990- and now, almost 30 years later, she is still fighting. As she continues to undergo treatment, she finds strength and hope in her journey, both past and future. She is driven by her “WHY” and strives to live each day with purposeful intention.

Sydney’s “WHY” has helped to guide Salon Services in partnering with brands, businesses, and foundations that share her vision and mission for change- in business and in life. We are proud to support Wings of Karen, a local non-profit breast cancer foundation supporting research with a sense of urgency. For many years, both Sydney and Salon Services have participated in various events to raise awareness and money for the foundation, bringing international recognition to this local, grassroots organization.



Many of our vendor partners and distributor friends have also joined in raising awareness through their support for Wings of Karen. For the past several years, KEVIN.MURPHY, an Australian based hair care brand, has donated a percentage of their sales during the month of October in honor of Sydney, to Wings of Karen. Last year, Kevin Murphy donated $4 per case sold of their limited edition SESSION.SPRAY, while Salon Services matched every donation with an additional $4 per case sold, raising over $10,000 for breast cancer research.

About Wings of Karen:
Wings of Karen is a non-profit breast cancer foundation supporting research with a sense of urgency, benefiting women everywhere. The mission of this community-based organization is to fund promising breast cancer research in the Pacific NW, while empowering and educating women with a positive, helping hand. The 501(c)(3) organization is very local—all of the funds go directly to researchers in Washington throughout the different organizations Wings of Karen supports.

Wings of Karen is a resource that shows the strength, courage, and beauty of those fighting back at cancer. The donations fund the study of all aspects of breast cancer, including but not limited to prevention, detection, and treatment.
